statement of beliefs
THE BIBLE
We believe the Bible is the verbally inspired Word of God and that both the Old and New Testaments are inerrant in the original writings. The Scriptures are the supreme and final authority for faith and life.
(2Tim.3:16; 2Pet.1:20, 21; Prov. 30:5-6)
THE GODHEAD
We believe the Godhead exists in three eternal and co-equal Persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. These three Persons are one God having precisely the same nature, attributes and perfections.
(John 1:1-14, 10:30, 14:23, 15:26; Col. 2:9; Heb. 1:1-3; Isa. 9:6)
THE LORD JESUS CHRIST
We believe in: (a) His eternal existence as God; (b) His incarnation, conception by the Holy Spirit, virgin birth and perfect humanity; (c) His death on the cross as the substitutionary atonement for sin; (d) His literal body resurrected from the dead; (e) His ascension and present ministry of intercession in heaven; and (f) His personal, future return to earth.
(John 1:1, 14; Matt. 1:20-23; 1Cor. 15:3; 1pet. 2:24, 3:18; John 20:19-20, 27, 28; 1Cor. 15:20; Acts 1:9-11)
THE HOLY SPIRIT
We believe; (a) that the Holy Spirit convicts individuals of sin, regenerates, baptises into the body of Christ, indwells, seals and sets apart believers unto a holy life; (b) that He keeps and empowers believers day by day; (c) that His ministry is to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ; and (d) that He is the teacher of the Word of God and the Guide for daily living.
(Tit. 3:5; John 16:7, 8; Eph. 1:13, 14; John 14:16-17, 26, 15:26; 2 Thess. 2:13)
CREATION
We believe the account of origans presented in Genesis is a factual and literal presentation of actual events. The various original life forms (“kinds”). Including mankind, were made by direct creative acts of God. The special creation of Adam (as one man) and Eve (as one woman), and their subsequent fall into sin, is the bases for the necessity of salvation for mankind.
(Gen. 1:1-3:24; rom. 1:20-25; Heb. 11:3; 2Pet. 3:5-6; Rom. 5:12-19; 1Cor. 15:21-22; 1Tim. 2:13-14)
MANKIND
We believe that; (a) man was created innocent and pure; and (b) Adam fell through the sin of disobedience. Therefore (c) all people corrupted in body, soul, and spirit; and (d) all people are lost and need redemption.
(Gen. 1:27, 31; Rom. 5:12, 18, 19; Rom. 3:23; john 3:36)
MARRIAGE
We believe that God created man and that He created them male and female. As such He created them different so as to complement and complete each other. God instituted monogamous marriage between male and female as the foundation of the family and the basic structure of human society. Therefore, we perform marriages in accordance with the Bible consistent with the Old and New Testament.
(Genesis 2:24; Matthew 19:4-6; John 4:16-18; Romans 1:18-32; I Corinthians 5:11, 6:9-11, 6:18-20, 7:1-3 and 7:8-9; Galatians 5:19-21; Ephesians 5:3-7; 1 Timothy 1:9-11)
SALVATION
We believe that; (a) salvation is by grace, a free gift of God apart from works; (b) salvation includes repentance, a turning in our hearts to God’s way from our own way; (c) salvation is through personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; (d) all who receive the Lord Jesus Christ are both regenerated by the Holy Spirit and baptised into the one body of which Jesus Christ is the Head [This is what the Bible means by the term “baptism by the Spirit”]; and (e) true salvation will be manifested by a changed life.
(Eph. 2:8, 9; Acts 16:31, 17:30, 20:20-21; 1Cor. 12:13; 2Cor. 5:17; Col 1:18)
SATAN
We believe Satan is; (a) a real being; (b) the deceiver who led mankind to sin against God; (c) the spiritual adversary of God and man; and (d) a spiritually defeated foe.
(Gen. 3:1-7; Matt. 4:1-11; John 8:44; Rev. 12:9, 20:2-3, 10; Eph. 6:11-12; Col. 1:18)
WATER BAPTISM & THE LORD’S SUPPER
We believe that the observance of the two ordinances of the Lord Jesus Christ namely, Baptism in water and the Lord’s Supper is a spiritual requirement for all believers. Baptism is by immersion of believers upon their profession of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, and is a symbol of the believer’s spiritual union with Christ in His death, burial and resurrection. The Lord’s Supper is a memorial of the sacrifice of the Body and Blood of the Lord Jesus Christ until His Return. These ordinances are not to be regarded as necessary for salvation or the means of receiving it, but, the Bible commands that this salvation should be outwardly declared and remembered.
(Matt. 28:18-20; Acts 8:36-38, 16:33, 34; Acts 4:42, 20:7; 1Cor. 11:23-26)
FELLOWSHIP
We believe Christians should associate themselves with other like-minded persons for the purpose of sharing the Word of God, teaching, fellowship, breaking of bread and prayers.
(Acts 2:42; Heb. 10:24)
THE FUTURE
We believe; (a) in the personal, visible return of Jesus Christ for the bodily resurrection of the just to the eternal abode in the glory of God’s presence before the great tribulation, (b) in the bodily resurrection of the unjust to judgement and conscious, everlasting punishment in the lake of fire.
(1Thess. 4:16, 17; Matt. 24:30; Rev. 20:11-15)
LOCAL CHURCH LEADERSHIP
We believe that Elders whom the Holy Spirit has raised are to oversee the local Church with Deacons and Deaconesses looking after practical matters.
(Acts 20:28; Titus 1:5-9; 1 Peter 5:1-4; 1 Tim. 3:1-12; Rom. 16:1
